TASTING NOTES: Espresso, Milk Chocolate, Cream, Cocoa, Cedar, Earth, Baking Spice, Wood
The Macanudo brand began as a limited Jamaican label named after a Spanish slang expression favored by King Edward VIII. Its legendary status was cemented in 1969 when General Cigar Company acquired the trademark and enlisted exiled Cuban master builder Ramón Cifuentes. By tailoring smooth blends for American palates, Macanudo grew into a top-selling global icon, eventually moving its core production from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic.
The M by Macanudo Espresso Toro is an eye-catching 6 x 50 barber pole cigar intertwining light and dark Indonesian wrappers over a Philippine binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The cold draw delivers an oily, sweetened cap with rich notes of mocha and cocoa. Upon lighting, the first third opens with bold espresso, syrupy milk chocolate, and light baking spices. The second third shifts into a velvety café-latte creaminess layered with toasted bread, roasted coffee beans, and a hint of charred wood. The final third culminates in a thick, buttery texture featuring dark cacao, prominent earth, and cedar on a short, slightly spicy finish.
In short, it is a uniquely constructed, medium-bodied dessert smoke overflowing with rich coffee, creamy milk chocolate, and dark cacao flavors.
